Goals

Our goal for technology at St. Katharine Drexel School is to teach students how to use technology for higher level thinking tasks. We use the model below to plan lessons that will stretch students beyond using technology as a toy or just a way to practice skills they already know. The transformative levels of Modification and Redefinition allow students to be creative and use technology to do activities that are impossible to do without technology. For example, a Modification activity would be to use Google Docs to collaborate on a project for Science. A Redefinition activity would be connecting with another classroom on the other side of the world to collaborate on a project for Social Studies. Everyday, we try to move up the chart to plan activities that will prepare our students for the 21st century world.
